Planning and communication
Our collaboration partners have environment certifications or work actively towards a more sustainable society. We collaborate with Reachem AB, a meeting and conference agency, climate neutral and certified by Respect Europe, a climate-calculation company controlled by the UN. We also collaborate with Malmö Live who aim at reducing their ecological footprints and at being a good example for how to run the operations of a hotel and conferences while at the same time paying attention to the environment.
The activities that are planned in connection with the conference are environmentally friendly and at walking distance from Malmö Live. There will be an offer to go on a guided tour of the city of Malmö, go for a jogging tour, visit museums at a reduced cost, and do yoga.
The conference premises have been consciously selected to facilitate means of travel and transportation. NU2016 is arranged at walking distance from the Central Station with good collective communication connections.
What can I contribute with as a participant?
During the conference we want to ask our participants to show consideration for the environment through bringing a conference bag, paper, and pen and digital tools as we want to reduce the use of material and recycle the material as far as possible. The program for the conference will be easy to download and update.

Products and services
Printed matters as, for example, rollups will be reused and recycled as far as possible. Information is spread digitally to the utmost possible extent. Profile products for organizer hosts and volunteers are eco-labelled and fairtrade marked. Gifts to lecturers will be chosen with consideration for the environment, sustainability and justice.
Food and drink
Ecological, locally produced fairtrade food and drink will be served during the conference. Vegetarian food will be offered as an alternative. The lunches will be cooked by Välfärden Kök & Kaffe who work with ecological and local primary produce. The conference dinner will be arranged at Moriska Paviljongen, known as the Malmö Folkets Park [people’s park]. Re:Orient works here for a broad and sustainable environment- and culture life, both in the form of products and bookings and with an awareness of environmental imprints. To the greatest possible extent, the kitchen works with ecological and locally cultivated products. They also have good collaboration with non-profit organizations such as Soppkök Malmö [soup kitchen] and Kontrapunkt to whom they donate unused primary produce.
We will offer our participants the use of water bottles sponsored by VA Syd who deliver fresh drinking-water in the south-west of Skåne. Drinking-water will be available in special fountains during the entire conference.
